Fes to Marrakech desert tours 2024/2025, in three days and two nights

Day 1: Fes – Ifran- Erfoud – Erg Chebbi 

Starting in Fes, you’ll be up for an early breakfast before beginning, your ascent into the Middle Atlas Mountains – a truly breathtaking part of the world. Winding through beautiful lush forests, past jagged rock faces and through Berber villages, this part of our tours will take most of the day.  Then you’ll then descend toward the Sahara desert, stopping halfway for lunch in Midelt – a town famous for its beautiful stones and historic fossils.

Continuing on picturesque mountain roads overlooking the winding Oued Ziz. You along with our Desert Tours team, will pass through Kasbahs and palm groves. Then heading toward the adobe-colored city of Er-Rachidia, arriving at our destination of Merzouga in the late afternoon. After some rest, our team will help you saddle up your own camel for a beautiful journey through one of the most stunning, and inhospitable parts of the world – the Sahara Desert. Journeying for about two hours, you’ll bear witness to a desert sunset before making camp in the dunes of Erg Chebbi. Sleeping in traditional nomadic tent under a night sky lit with thousands of stars. Surrounded by Berber music and food, both provided by your guide, this promises to be an unforgettable night.

Day 2: Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Gorge 

You’ll rise early on the second day to be watch the sunrise over the dunes. Before being escorted back to Merzouga by camel by our tours team. After breakfast, then you’ll head toward Erfoud and the Todra Gorges beyond that. En route, you’ll pass by nomad people going about their lives. On arrival, you’ll have the chance to climb the 300 metre-tall gorges, and view the beautiful river valleys from an excellent vantage point. These same valleys make for a gorgeous journey as we turn towards the southeast of Morocco. Our desert tours then have you continue past the strange rock formations of Tamnalt Hill, before arriving in Dades Gorge where you’ll spend the night.

Day 3: Dades Gorge – Ouarzazate – Marrakech 

The final day of our tours has your group heading for the historic town of Ouarzazate via the High Atlas Mountains. Off road for about 25kms in your 4WD. Then you’ll discover caves home to nomadic groups, before approaching one of the most beautiful and fragrant cities of the world.

Travelling past the Skoura palm oasis, and Kasbah Ait Benhaddou via the Road of One Thousand Kasbahs. Then you’ll arrive in Morocco’s Valley of Roses, is home to the roses supplying the majority of the world’s perfume needs. Then to Ouarzazate, is also called the Hollywood of Africa. Where countless blockbusters including Lawrence of Arabia, Jesus of Nazareth and Gladiator were filmed. Then you to explore the city and find the hidden gem. Then cross the high Atlas, before being dropped off at your riad or hotel in the afternoon.

An extended journey from Fes to Marrakech desert tours in four days

Day 1: From Fes – Midelt – Erfoud – Merzouga  

Our Desert Tours team will collect you from your hotel or riad. Set off with you on your journey toward the Middle Atlas Mountains past imposing rock faces, and through fragrant cedar forests and friendly Berber villages. Crossing the Atlas Mountains, you’ll approach the Sahara Desert and stop for lunch in the ancient town of Midelt. Here you can browse a number of local handcrafts. Including carpets and blankets made in the nomadic style, and view a range of fossils and colorful minerals pulled from the earth around the town.

Following mountainous roads overlooking the beautiful waters of the Oued Ziz. you’ll pass historic Kasbahs and palm groves alongside the adobe-built town of Er-Rachidia. In the late afternoon you and our desert tours team will arrive in Merzouga. On the outskirts of the Sahara Desert and stay overnight in a comfortable local hotel.

Day 2: Merzouga – Rissani – Erg Chebbi  

After your breakfast. you will discover this beautiful town on the rim of the Sahara Desert. Visit the local fossils center. Followed by the ancient city of Rissani – birthplace of the ruling Alawite Dynasty of Morocco, and Price Moulay er Rachid of Morocco. Moreover Erissani is a place out of another era. Explore this fabulous Moroccan cultural destination boasting. Beautiful examples of early national architectural styles and breath-taking palaces and temples including Ksar Oulad Abdelhalim. Get to know the local Saharan people a bit better – easily spotted thanks to their traditional and distinctive indigo robes.

Then, visit Khamlia village in the shadows of Erg Chebbi. The largest sand desert in Morocco – and listen to Gnaoua music – an ancient African Islamic repertoire of religious songs. Something you won’t find in any other region on Earth. Later in the afternoon, our desert tours team will help you saddle up your camels for a trip across the sands. Next during sunset to a nomadic camp in the dunes of Erg Chebbi. Where you’ll be spending the night. Experience traditional music from the 5000 year-old Berber culture light only by the moon and a night sky full of stars. Unforgettable.

Day 3: Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Gorge  

Wake early then you can catch the sunrise over the dunes, before heading back to Merzouga by camel. After breakfast in town, you’ll begin to travel toward the oasis town of Erfoud and the striking 300m high Todra Gorges beyond that. With picturesque river valleys providing a pleasant backdrop. You’ll continue your journey from Todra Gorges to nearby Dades Gorge. Where you’ll stay the night via roads framed by the strange rock creations at Tamnalt Hills.

Day 4: Dades Gorge – Ouarzazate – Marrakech  

After breakfast, start heading towards Ouarzazate via the High Atlas Mountains. Going off-road for about 25km. Then our desert tours team will show you a series of caves used by Berber nomads both past and present as homes. You’ll pass by the Skoura palm oasis. Here you’ll find out why it’s called the Road of One Thousand Kasbahs. Then drive to Ouarzazate, stop at Kasbah Taourirt. Next toward Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. then to explore not just the film sets the town is famous for (where Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia were filmed), but to seek out the hidden gems in the city. After that cross the high Atlas to Marrakech. Then will drop you off at your accommodation. Finally end of Fes to Marrakech desert tours.

An alternative route from Fes to Marrakech desert tours over four days

Day 1: Fes – Volubilis – Meknes – Midelt  

Travelling with our desert tours team from Fes. You’ll have an early breakfast and make toward Meknes – one of the largest cities in Morocco – with a stop-over in the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis. Dating from the third century BC, this historic remnant of a past society features beautiful mosaics. It give you a picture of not just Roman, but Phoenician and Carthaginian life.

Our guides will then have you continue on to Meknes, where you can view the gates of Bab El Mansour. Thus Bab El Khamis and dine in the holy city of Moulay Idris. After lunch, then our tours party will set off towards the Middle Atlas Mountains. Where most of our day will be spent winding our way through astonishingly beautiful and varied terrain. Including cedar forests, jagged rock faces and Berber villages, before staying overnight in the town of Midelt.

Day 2: Midelt – Er-Rachidia – Erfoud – Erg Chebbi (sand boarding)  

Breakfasting in Midelt, you’ll cross the Atlas Mountains and descend toward the Sahara Desert. Travelling along mountain roads offering unparalleled views of the country side and Oued Ziz. Then you’ll pass Kasbahs, palm groves, and the adobe-colored city of Er-Rachidia before arriving in Merzouga in the late afternoon. Situated on the outskirts of the Sahara Desert, this is an ideal spot to explore and drink in the local culture. Then Our desert tours team will  have you saddling up your camel for a two hour trek out into the dunes during sunset. Before camping overnight at Erg Chebbi at a traditional nomadic tent and some fun sand boarding.

Day 3: Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Gorge  

Wake up to see the sunrise before a camel drive back to Merzouga. Breakfast in town before travelling to Erfoud and then towards to Todra Gorges. where you’ll climb nearly a thousand feet to the top. Lush river valleys provide the perfect backdrop for the party’s journey towards the southeast of Morocco. Marvel at the splendor of Morocco’s natural beauty with a journey to nearby Dades Gorge passing by the striking rock formations of Tamnalt Hills. Sleep overnight in comfortable accommodation in Dades Gorge.

Day 4 : Dades Gorge – Ouarzazate – Marrakech (end of Marrakech to fes desert tours) 

After a delicious breakfast, you’ll journey towards Ouarzazate passing through the High Atlas mountains. Our desert tours team offers something truly unique – they’ll take you off-road briefly to view a series of caves home to nomadic people. After that, then we’ll continue down the Road of One Thousand Kasbahs toward Ouarzazate with a visit to Skoura palm oasis and the Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Arrive at our final destination in Ouarzazate, our guides will drop you off at your hotel or riad. Then we implore you to explore the town, finding not just the sites where famous films including Gladiator and Jesus of Nazareth were filmed, but the secret, hidden gems off the beaten path.

Take a shorter desert trip, from Fes to Marrakech desert tours with two days and one night

Day 1: Fes – Midelt – Erfoud – Mezouga – Erg Chebbi  

An early breakfast gets you started for a day of fun and adventure with our desert tours team. Most of the day will be spent winding through lush cedar forests. Plus Berber villages and past jagged rock faces in the Middle Atlast Mountains. Half way there you’ll stop for lunch in the town of Midelt, famous for its geological and paleontologist sites producing many beautiful minerals and fossils.

Continuing on over mountain tracks offering sweeping views of the countryside, our party will pass by Kasbahs and palm groves as we head towards Er-Rachidia with its adobe-coloured façade. In late afternoon we’ll arrive in Merzouga at the edge of the Sahara Desert. After a small rest, we’ll prepare the camels and head out on an unforgettable journey into the Sahara to the dunes of Erg Chebbi. Watching the sun set over the sands from camel-back is something that our guests never forget. In the evening, we’ll make camp with a group of nomadic Saharan people and stay in a traditional tent under the night sky. Listen to Berber music and eat delicious food cooked for you by your guide and enjoy an unparalleled evening.

Day 2 : Erg Chebbi – Merzouga – Nekob – Agdez – Marrakech  

Arising early, our guides will give you the perfect end to your stay in the Sahara – sunrise over the dunes. You’ll then return to Merzouga by camel, where you’ll have breakfast and then move on. Visit the ancient city of Rissani. The wellspring of the ruling Alawite Dynasty – and meet indigo-robed Saharan locals. Our party will then turn west towards the volcanic mountains of Sarghro featuring dramatic rock formations and suburb views.

Your education in Morocco’s natural beauty, is complete with a visit to Draa Valley, the largest oasis in the country. After admiring its beautiful, palm-lined waters we’ll head onwards to the town of Agdez and the UNESCO protected site of Ait Benhaddou – an impressive and well-preserved Kasbah and fortress where many productions have been shot including Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator and Game of Thrones.

Finally our desert tours team will then lead the party towards to High Atlas Mountains. Then cross them via the highest road pass at Tizi-n-Tichka at an altitude of more than two kilometres. This part of the trek offers impressive and unbeatable views of valleys, mountains and nearby villages. After this, we’ll drop you off at your riad or hotel in the evening.
